RIO’s Premier Midge tip is a floating line featuring either a 3-foot or 6-foot, clear intermediate tip that sinks 1.5 inches per second, or a gray hover option that sinks 1 inch per second. Midge Tip lines are arguably the most underrated stillwater fly line
A Midge Tip is deadly when fishing long leaders on windy days as the tip section bites through the surface chopping keeping you in contact with your flies. It is an excellent shallow water nymphing line or when fish are chasing small baitfish in the shallows. If a fish rolls, you can efficiently pick up your line and cover the rise. You can also use a Midge Tip to fish dry flies. Leave the flies sitting on the surface. As soon as the Midge Tip drags the dries under begin a slow hand twist retrieve to keep the flies just below the surface where fish are cruising
Each line is built with a supple coldwater core, SlickCast coating, and welded loops on the front and back for fast rigging. With options available in regular and long, hover and intermediate, it is a must-have line for lake anglers everywhere.
