RIO's Elite hover line is an intermediate sinking line at less than 1 inch per second. It is an excellent line when targeting fish in shallow water or when they are feeding on emerging nymphs and pupa just below the surface.
A Hover line is also an excellent option for fishing chironomid pupa on a windy day in deep water, 15-feet or greater as it allows you to use shorter leaders to reduce tangles and keeps you in contact with your flies. Just be sure to wait long enough for the flies to get to the fish. At 1-inch per second, it takes 3 minutes for the line to sink 15-feet. This line is not density compensated so it also works as a subtle sweep line in conjunction with a slow hand twist retrieve.
The line also features a "hang marker" approximately 20-feet from the front end for fishing the hang or judging when to make the cast.
