Named for its distinct silver bead, the Tin Man is an excellent water boatman pattern. Whenever trout are showing an interest in water boatman such as early spring or during the fall this is a pattern you want in your fly box. The silver bead and pearlescent tag do a great job suggesting the reflective shine of the air bubble boatman carry with them on their underwater travels.
Where legal the Tin Man is a great pattern to work in conjunction with a backswimmer imitation such as the Greater Water Floatman as these two insects are often active at the same time.
